We love a good trend revival moment, and it goes without saying that 90s and Y2K have been back in a big way for a while now. But another decade we’re starting to see making its way back into our regular rotation is the 60s, proven by model Kaia Gerber’s latest hairstyle which we’re dubbing ‘bouffant hair’.
Gerber showcased her latest hairstyle in an Instagram post featuring pictures from her cover with the Italian online magazine “D.Repubblica.it” where she can be seen sporting some extremely voluminous hair.
We’re in love with this look which is serving pure elegance and effortlessly chic volume. It’s giving major Twiggy and general 60s vibes, with the hair inevitably also reminding us of her lookalike mum Cindy Crawford and her iconic supermodel era.
How to recreate Kaia’s bouffant hair
If you’re looking to create a similar high volume look, start by applying some styling spray with heat protection to damp hair.
Next, create volume by blow drying with a round brush.
Twist large curls into your ends using a curling wand, being sure to pay close attention the direction of rotation – this should be outwards (away from the face) to create a more natural, undone look.
Finally, using a styling comb, tousle the roots and give your hair some hold using hairspray.
Voila – bouffant hair!
Kaia’s bouffant hair is a real all-rounder, exuding easy indie chic which the model has become known for. We’ll be pairing this dreamy hairstyle with an airy dress and trench as we head into the autumn months.
