Beyoncé is deep in her Rennaissance World Tour and you know she’s bound to sound as good as she looks, mainly thanks to her good genes (Mumma Tina Knowles, you’re a real one for that), but also thanks to her glam squad – Neal Farinah on hair and Rokael Lizama on makeup.
She has, however, faced some weather forecast obstacles. But Beyoncé—and her makeup—know that the show must always go on, so much so, that she paid $100,000 thousand to extend the operating hours of the Washington, DC, metro after her Renaissance World Tour show on Sunday 6th August, was delayed due to severe weather.
And we mean severe: A shelter-in-place was issued just one hour before the show was set to begin, with Club Renaissance even being evacuated in and out of the stadium grounds. But of course, Bey wasn’t deterred. After ensuring her fans would get home safely via public transit, Beyoncé flawlessly performed the entirety of the Renaissance World Tour set list after a two-hour delay—and in the midst of a torrential downpour.
But what’s possibly most impressive of all is the fact that her makeup did not budge. Not-one-bit. In fact, according to Lizama, this is largely thanks to some rather powerful—and waterproof—setting spray.
The miraculous product in question? Patrick Starr’s beloved One/Size On ’Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray.
“Built for the elements,” Lizama wrote on Instagram. “Rain or Shine Bey did her thing!!!” Lizama then shouted out Patrick Starr’s product: “@patrickstarr I love you! Your spray helped us get through the show!”
Starr then took to TikTok, sharing the secret to Beyoncé’s rainproof glam with screenshots of his conversations with Lizama. “OneSize spray come thru!!!” Lizama had said via iMessage, attaching photo and video from Beyoncé’s rainy performance.

Since the formula features pore-tightening green tea extract and moisture-wicking witch hazel, it’s no surprise Lizama turned to Patrick Starr’s One/Size On ’Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray. The product is known and beloved for its long-lasting matte finish—16 hours, to be exact—and is continually selling out on Sephora and the brand’s site a result.
The news quickly spread through socials with Twitter users raving about how Beyonce managed to perform a two hour long set while singing dancing in the torrential rain without her makeup did not move an inch. Other users raved about their own personal experiences with this setting spray. Granted this not the first time the One/Size has gone viral, but leave it to Beyonce to sell out a product.
We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but looks like we’re going to have to wait for a restock on this one…
Luckily, we have setting spray suggestions that should hold you over until Beyoncé’s go-to spray comes back into stock. Both Urban Decay’s All Nighter Waterproof Makeup Setting Spray and Benefit Cosmetics’ The Porefessional Super Setter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray are waterproof much like Starr’s, and similarly promise to keep makeup fresh, smudge-proof, and transfer resistant for up to 16 hours.
We don’t have a full break down on how Lizama did Beyonce’s makeup but a top tip to really make your makeup last is to ensure you apply your setting spray of choice after every step in your makeup routine. That will ensure all products are locked in and give you an extra added hold.
It’s just up to you to put it to the test with your own version of a Beyoncé level performance in the pouring rain.
