Damar Hamlin is sending his best wishes to Bronny James and the basketball star’s dad, LeBron James, after the younger James suffered cardiac arrest while working out July 24.
“Prayers to Bronny & The James family as well. here for you guys just like you have been for me my entire process,” Hamlin tweeted July 25.
Bronny James, 18, is the oldest son of LeBron James and committed to play basketball at the University of Southern California.
“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest,” a family spokesperson said in a statement July 25. “Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU.”
Hamlin, of course, is a safety for the Buffalo Bills who gained nationwide notoriety in January when he collapsed and suffered experienced cardiac arrest during a nationally televised game between the Bills and Cincinnati Bengals.
Hamlin, 25, plans to resume playing after he was cleared to do so in April. He also teared up during the ESPY Awards earlier this month while thanking the Bills trainers who saved his life.
Hamlin has also been vocal about turning his medical episode into something positive.
“What happened to me on ‘Monday Night Football’ I feel is a direct example of God using me as a vessel to share my passion and my love directly from my heart with the entire world,” he said in an Instagram video a few weeks after his cardiac arrest.
“And I’m able to give it back to kids and communities all across the world who need it the most, and that’s always been my dream. That’s always been what I stood for and what I will continue to stand for.”
